What round is it? Guys with fake French accents want to know
At the time of this writing, Saint Louis has six points in its NCAA Tournament game against Louisville. Louisville has 12. There are 7 minutes, 21 seconds remaining before halftime. Peach baskets are falling from walls.
It is the third round of March Madness.
That’s right. The third round.
So if you’re the guy who called the boss and left a long message using a French accent saying we had it wrong in the newspaper when we referred to the first round as the second round, do not call and leave another message.
I hear what you are trying to say. Most people refer to the 16 games played on Thursday, and the 16 games played on Friday, as the first round of the tournament.
The NCAA is not most people. The NCAA refers to these games as the second round.
The NCAA refers to the First Four games on Tuesday and Wednesday as the first round.
The NCAA also refers to the players as student-athletes.
So as I said, I hear what you are trying to say, LeBeau.
I think the best way to eliminate the confusion over what round of the tournament it is would be for Craig Sager to wear a necktie with the brackets and rounds filled out with their proper names.
