Bradford’s departure thins Rebels backfield

Sophomore running back Dionza Bradford has left UNLV’s football team, dealing a big blow to what was expected to be one of the best running games in the Mountain West Conference.

Coach Bobby Hauck said Monday that Bradford left “for personal reasons.” Hauck didn’t elaborate, citing student privacy guidelines.

Bradford, who rushed for 615 yards and three touchdowns last season, had been expected to share the backfield load with junior Tim Cornett, who had 671 yards and seven touchdowns in 2011.

Junior Bradley Randle (489 yards, two touchdowns) moved up to second team. The Rebels also worked senior wide receiver Eric Johnson at running back during practice Monday.
