CSN rides pitching, walks to baseball victory
Three pitchers combined on a five-hitter to lead the College of Southern Nevada baseball team to an 11-3 victory over Scottsdale (Ariz.) Community College on Saturday at Morse Stadium.
Starter Billy Richardson went three innings to get the victory, allowing two runs — one earned — on two hits. Will Morris gave up one hit and one run in two innings, and Alex Daley allowed two hits in the final two innings.
CSN batters drew nine walks. Seven players each had one hit for the Coyotes (5-3), and no one had more than one RBI.
■ CSN SOFTBALL — At Yuma, Ariz., the Coyotes went 1-1 in the Great Western Shootout. CSN (5-7) defeated Eastern Arizona 1-0, then lost to Arizona Western, 7-5.
■ UNLV MEN’S TENNIS — Rene Ruegamer pulled out a victory at No. 1 singles to give the Rebels a 4-3 win over Loyola Marymount at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
With the score tied 3-3, the match came down to Ruegamer against Alex Wilton. Ruegamer prevailed, 7-6, 3-6, 7-6.
UNLV (3-2) won two of three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead, then split the six singles matches.
Ruegamer, Alex Bull (No. 3) and Willie Sublette (No. 6) won in singles.
■ UNLV WOMEN’S SWIMMING — The Rebels finished their regular season with a 156-91 win over Loyola Marymount at Buchanan Natatorium.
Jessica Heim (200-yard freestyle, 500 freestyle) and Carmen Robb (100 backstroke, 100 butterfly) each won two events.
■ UNLV TRACK AND FIELD — At Albuquerque, N.M., Emily Blok and Kelsey Williamson paced the Rebels on the final day of the New Mexico Classic indoor meet, with Blok taking second in the 60-meter dash and Williamson finishing second in the 800.
Blok clocked 7.60 seconds, and Williamson finished in 2:11.19, just ahead of teammate Brett Zorich. Williamson and Zorich also were part of the third-place distance medley relay team.
