Errors help UNLV to 9-6, 10-inning baseball victory at San Jose State
Austin Anderson’s two-run single in the 10th inning lifted UNLV to a 9-6 win over San Jose State in a Mountain West baseball game Saturday in San Jose, Calif.
The Rebels (24-29, 10-20) took advantage of three 10th-inning errors by the Spartans (13-43, 6-24) to pull away. UNLV also scored two ninth-inning runs on an error and a wild pitch.
Trailing 3-1, the Rebels scored three runs in the seventh on sacrifice flies by Joey Armstrong and Joey Swanner and an RBI single by Edgar Montes.
San Jose State tied the score at 4 in the seventh and scored two unearned runs in the ninth to tie it at 6.
Swanner, Montes and Andrew Yazdanbakhsh each had two hits for UNLV, which was outhit 12-11.
Rebels starting pitcher Blaze Bohall shut out the Spartans on five hits over four innings. Zack Hartman (5-1), who struck out three in the ninth, got the win.
Brett Bautista went 3-for-6 with a home run, a double and three RBIs for the Spartans.
