Fresno State ends skid with baseball victory over Rebels

Jake Stone went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, a stolen base and two RBIs to back Jimmy Lambert’s strong pitching and lead Fresno State to a 6-2 win over UNLV in a Mountain West baseball game Saturday in Fresno, California.

Lambert (4-0) held the Rebels (8-9, 3-2) to one run on five hits and two walks and struck out nine in six innings as the Bulldogs (12-7, 3-2) halted a seven-game slide.

Stone had an RBI double in Fresno State’s two-run second inning and a leadoff homer in the Bulldogs’ three-run fifth.

Justin Jones, who had a double and a single, was the lone player with multiple hits for UNLV, which was outhit 11-8.

Rebels starter Dean Kremer (0-3) gave up six runs on nine hits and three walks in five innings.
