UNLV roundup: Women’s soccer team tops Wyoming

Michaela Morris and Caitlyn Kreutz scored 6 minutes, 26 seconds apart midway through the first half, and UNLV held on for a 2-1 win over Wyoming in a Mountain West women’s soccer match Sunday at Johann Memorial Field.

Sophie Cortes had assists on both goals for the Rebels (12-3, 4-2), who improved to 8-1 at home. Morris’ goal was her seventh of the season, and Kreutz notched her fourth.

Summer Halle scored in the 59th minute, off an assist from Jemma House, for the Cowgirls (7-5-2, 3-2-1), who were outshot 25-10.

MEN’S SOCCER

At Bakersfield, Calif., Ricardo Soza scored in the 50th minute, and Detre Bell notched a six-save shutout to lead Cal State Bakersfield to a 1-0 victory over the Rebels, UNLV’s team-record fifth 1-0 loss this season.

The Rebels (5-7, 2-1), who had won three straight, held a 16-9 edge in shots. Timo Mehlich had a match-high five shots, two of which were on goal, and Danny Musovski put two of his four shots on goal.

Sebastian Mentel had an assist for the Roadrunners (5-6, 3-1), who won their third straight.
