UNLV aims to end losing streak against New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —  Kickoff is less than 20 minutes away, and UNLV is just leaving the football field.

The Rebels (2-5, 0-3 MWC) hope to break a four-game losing streak and a school-record 20-game Mountain West Conference skid.

If the Rebels are end to those streaks, tonight would seem to be it against a New Mexico team that is 0-6, including 0-2 in league play. The Lobos also have lost 10 in a row.

MAKING THE TRIP

Rebels defensive tackle Martin Tevaseu is here and will play, but not start. His 19-year-old sister, Zsorhzinnia, died in a recent car accident. Ramsey Feagai will start in Tevaseu’s place.

ODDS AND ENDS

Five of the past six meetings between these teams have been decided by a touchdown or less. … UNLV wide receiver Ryan Wolfe needs four receptions to become the Mountain West’s career leader. … Rebels running backs coach DeAndre Smith held the same position last season at New Mexico under Rocky Long. … UNLV hopes for its first victory in Albuquerque since 2003.
