Poor shooting, turnovers cost Lady Rebels
The UNLV women’s basketball team struggled with shooting and turnovers, leading to a 67-50 loss to Utah on Saturday in a Mountain West Conference game in Salt Lake City.
The Lady Rebels (8-11, 1-5 MWC) shot 33.3 percent from the field (18 of 54) and committed 20 turnovers, which the Utes turned into 28 points.
UNLV made five of its first 25 shots, helping Utah build a 38-16 halftime advantage, and the Lady Rebels trailed by 29 points early in the second half.
UNLV got no closer than 15 the rest of the way.
Dominique Harris led UNLV with 14 points, and Jamie Smith had 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Kalee Whipple led Utah (12-6, 5-0) with 22 points.
