Rebels continue to fill recruiting spots
UNLV’s football team is close to filling all 17 recruiting spots leading up to the Feb. 1 signing day. The Rebels have only five slots remaining entering this weekend, when more recruits will visit.
They don’t have the full allotment of 25 spots because of carryovers from grayshirts and others who received scholarships last season that count against this class.
UNLV’s most recent commitment is Blaine (Wash.) High School tight end Andrew Price, who chose the Rebels over Pac-12 Conference schools Washington State and Oregon State among others. Price (6 feet 5 inches, 220 pounds) said he didn’t think he would fit in with Washington State’s spread offense under new coach Mike Leach, and he wasn’t sold on Oregon State’s ability to compete in the Pac-12.
"I’m really excited for it," Price said of his commitment to UNLV. "I like the overall direction the program is going in. They’ve been down, but they’ve got a lot of freshmen and sophomores, and it’s a group that’s bought in.
"UNLV in a few years will be dominating the Mountain West."
