Mark Anderson has been at the Review-Journal since January 1999. He covered UNLV football for 17 seasons before moving to the men’s basketball beat in January 2016, and was president of the Football Writers Association of America in 2016. Before coming to the R-J, he covered UNR football for five seasons at the Reno Gazette-Journal and was the high school sports reporter for the Tallahassee (Fla.) Democrat from 1988-94. He is a native of Tallahassee and a graduate of the University of Florida.

UNLV’s Lexington Thomas named second-team All-MW

UNLV senior running back Lexington Thomas was named second-team All-Mountain West on Wednesday. He was the only Rebel selected to either team, but senior offensive tackle Nathan Jacobson, senior defensive end Roger Mann and junior guard Justin Polu were named honorable mention.

UNLV quarterback Armani Rogers accounted for five touchdowns, including the winning 3-yard rush with 2:34 left, to give the Rebels a 34-29 victory over UNR. The Fremont Cannon will be painted red.

UNLV lineman Zack Singer hopes for extra season

UNLV offensive lineman Zack Singer chose not to go through senior night ceremonies Saturday before the Rebels’ game against UNR. He hopes for an extra season of eligibility to be approved by the NCAA.
