No autopsy for girl who died after riding roller coaster

A 10-year-old girl who died after falling unconscious after riding a roller coaster in Six Flags Magic Mountain died of natural causes, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office told KTLA on Tuesday.

Jasmine Martinez was hospitalized after riding the roller coaster Revolution Friday afternoon, but officials said her death was unrelated to the ride.

The family won’t be allowing an autopsy, citing “religious reasons,” Assistant Chief Ed Winter said. The cause of death can not be determined without an autopsy.

“There is no evidence to suggest that this was in any way ride related. We do not know if there was a pre-existing condition,” a statement from Magic Mountain read.

According to the park, more than 45 million people have ridden the roller coaster since it opened in 1976.
