White Pine
A solid defensive effort, especially in the second half, allowed the Bobcats to pull away for a 45-27 win over West Wendover in a Division III state semifinal at Lawlor Events Center. White Pine (25-6) will meet Incline (20-5) for the state title at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Before I can graduate, there’s some basketball to discuss. Debra Kingston had 19 points and nine rebounds to lead the White Pine to a 54-48 win over Agassi Prep in the Southern League final at Desert Pines. Both teams advance to next week’s state tournament in Reno.
Killian Diers, who finished with 22 points, 16 rebounds and two assists, was the most active player on both ends of the floor in the Lions’ 78-52 win over White Pine in a Division III Southern League matchup.
Kahlil DeRouen scored all five of his points in the final 30 seconds to lift Liberty’s boys basketball team to a 53-52 home victory over Basic on Tuesday.
Agassi Prep had a true homecoming game Friday against White Pine, as the Stars sixth game of the season was their first home game of the year.
