Entrepreneur and Air Force Veteran Discovers Her Dream Home at The Ogden

Marylou Soto lived most of her life in Southern California, but when she joined the Air Force during the ’90s, she had the privilege of traveling all over the world. She recently purchased her dream home in the sky at The Ogden, an iconic high-rise condominium tower in the heart of downtown Las Vegas, a short commute to her family-owned business, Lazer Ladies.

“My first assignment was at Nellis Air Force Base in 1999 and was reassigned there in 2006. Over the years, I realized that Las Vegas was home sweet home for me,” Soto said.

“I left the Air Force in 2007 to develop my own business, and I purchased a single-family home in Henderson. But because my business is now located in the north part of the valley, I immediately thought of The Ogden when I reconsidered moving closer to work.”

Soto discovered the high-rise community a few years ago during an outing with some MBA colleagues, never dreaming she would fall in love with high-rise living. But today, she embraces both the lifestyle and all the perks that come with being a luxury high-rise homeowner.

“I now wonder what took me so long to convert to this lifestyle, given how little maintenance is required to take care of my new home,” Soto said. “The Ogden’s sense of security was another huge selling point, as well as its location in the heart of downtown Las Vegas where there is so much to do, see and experience.

“The tower’s friendly staff and neighbors truly make it feel like home. Most importantly, The Ogden’s on-site lender, The Federal Savings Bank, made the financing process so painless, walking me through every step of applying for a VA (Department of Veterans Affairs) loan.”

Soto moved in November and was impressed with how little time it took to close on the home — only 21 days.

“It’s amazing how spacious my one-bedroom home feels!” she said. “And since I’ve lived here, my life has truly been simplified. Being a business owner means I’m on call around the clock, so it’s great knowing my commute to work is a fraction of what it used to be.”

Soto already has dived right in to The Ogden’s many activities and gatherings that are organized exclusively for residents. “I appreciate the built-in social scene and opportunities that make it easy and convenient to meet new and interesting people, and make new friends.”

“I welcomed the New Year with my family by enjoying the breathtaking views of the fireworks from my balcony,” she said. “I feel like I’m finally enjoying my life, thanks to The Ogden.”

The Ogden now offers three flexible financing options, including Federal Housing Administration-, VA- and Fannie Mae-backed loans, making it easier for homebuyers to lock in their dream homes.

The Ogden’s $2 million renovation includes luxury amenities, such as a rooftop pool, Sky Deck, fitness studio, pet park and casual work spaces.

Right outside the front door of The Ogden are more than 150 restaurants, many of them among the city’s most popular eateries, bars, attractions and an energy that continues to build with ongoing redevelopment of downtown Las Vegas.

Homes at The Ogden range from a one-bedroom 815-square-foot residence with prices starting in the mid-$200s, to a three-bedroom plus den 2,044-square-foot home starting in the low $600s.

Residences feature a modern design aesthetic in keeping with the architecture and the lifestyle vibe, private balconies and expansive views of downtown Las Vegas, the Strip and the mountains that frame the valley.

The Ogden’s single-story, open floor plans offer flex spaces that can serve as a home office, den or yoga room; extra bedrooms for accommodating multigenerational family and guests; and spacious windows that fill interiors with natural light — all sought-after design features by millennials, professionals, empty-nesters and retirees.
