Mustang GT draws interested buyers of all ages, professions

The 2017 Mustang GT began arriving at Friendly Ford about two months ago, and the vehicle’s performance, looks and handling have combined to create a strong response by buyers who want a complete package.

The latest Mustang GT 5-liter V-8 generates 435 horsepower with 40 foot-pounds of torque as Ford Motor Co. carries on with a tradition first introduced in 1964. It purrs when running at 4,200 rpm.

The Mustang tradition hasn’t missed a beat in more than 50 years and is the best-selling sport coupe globally.

The Mustang GT is available with leather interior and Recaro sports seats that fit perfectly with the interior. It remains the iconic American muscle car with a voice-activated navigation system and a choice of six-speed manual or six-speed select shift. There also is the automatic transmission with paddle shifting capability.

An aviation-inspired cockpit has been designed to provide easy access to elements such as a touch screen and dual-zone automatic temperature control.

With advanced driver assist technologies such as adaptive cruise control and forward support warning with brake support, the Mustang GT also has a blind-spot information system with cross-traffic alert that helps excel during real-world challenges.

Sales consultant Trish Lewey, who lives in Pahrump and makes the drive every day, has sold six ’17 Mustang GT models. She said the vehicle’s buyer profile ranges from teenagers to adults in their 80s, with that group including professionals such as a UNLV professor and a psychiatrist.

“The Mustang makes people feel 20 years younger,” Lewey said. “In addition, it looks good no matter wherever it’s parked.”

“It has the look and appearance that could be tailored to anyone,” said Lewey, a native of Pennsylvania who has lived in Las Vegas for seven years. “It certainly has the power and a very cool throaty exhaust that makes it stand out in a crowd.”

There also are various upgrades available to increase power and handling.

Situated at 660 N. Decatur Blvd., Friendly Ford opened in 1970. The dealership is a 17-time winner of the prestigious President’s Award, Ford’s highest single honor for customer satisfaction.
