The Toyota Corolla has a rich history, and it is now celebrating its 50th year in an industry that is continually changing.
The compact Corolla, which has been termed the best-selling car nameplate, has certainly earned its place in history considering its reliability, practicality and affordability. The popularity of the model is well-known at Findlay Toyota in the Valley Automall.
Available in seven models, the 2017 SE Corolla comes standard with a 1.8-liter direct overhead cam 16-valve dual VVT-i and a continuously variable transmission along with sport drive mode, 17-inch machined alloy wheels and an exterior that includes multi-LED headlights with LED accident lights, LED daytime running lights in the bumper, color-keyed heated power outside mirrors, a rear spoiler and integrated turn signal indicators.
With combined city/highway mileage of 31 miles to the gallon, the performance of the ’17 Corolla is especially impressive.
The interior of the SE is heightened by SofTex-trimmed sports seats, fabric inserts, a four-way adjustable passenger seat, Entune audio with a 6.1-inch touch screen and a 4.2-inch color TFT multi-info display along with integrated backup camera and leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio and a sunroof, to name a few of the amenities.
Add in a hands-free phone voice-command control, steering wheel mounted paddle shifters, automatic climate control with pollen filter and push-button controls.
The safety and convenience package is equally as impressive with Toyota Safety Sense Pre-Collision System, pedestrian detection and dynamic radar, cruise control with lane departure alert, anti-lock brake system, eight airbags and whiplash-injury-lessening front seats, among other additions.
“The 2017 Toyota Corolla is selling very well,” said dealership General Manager John Barr.
“The new Corolla is bigger,” Barr said, pointing out one of the key selling points with the vehicle. “For people wanting dependability, reliability and affordability, the 2017 Corolla is the perfect package.”
Jacob Henn, an internet sales manager, has been with the company for 25 years. He echoes Barr’s comments.
“The Corolla is another example of Toyota’s pride in quality of workmanship,” Henn said. “The car sells itself. We feel very good about selling the Corolla to our customers because we know they’re in very good hands with a vehicle that also has excellent resale value. The safety features are No. 1.”
