Knee injury sidelines Clark County commissioner

Updated July 20, 2017 - 4:03 pm

Clark County Commissioner Susan Brager’s absence from the dais since July 6 has been due to an injury to her right knee, the commissioner said Thursday.

Brager said she will have surgery for a torn meniscus on Friday. She hopes to attend the next County Commission meeting in person on Aug. 1.

“Once the surgery is done I should be able to hobble anywhere,” she said. “I’ve done all my briefings on the phone. … I’m hoping that by Tuesday or Wednesday that I’ll be on crutches and start physical therapy.”

Brager said she doesn’t know exactly what caused her injury but suspects it stems from when a drunk driver hit her while she was a pedestrian nearly 50 years ago. Both of Brager’s legs were broken in the crash,

Brager is serving her third term on the commission. She represents District F, which covers the southwestern Las Vegas Valley.
