A $1.46 million transit stop opened this month near Downtown Summerlin and a new practice facility for the Golden Knights, the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada said Thursday.
The Downtown Summerlin Transit Facility, at Summerlin Centre and Pavilion Center drives, will serve as the end of the line for the Sahara Express and Route 206 bus lines, which are among the busiest routes in the local bus system, RTC General Manager Tina Quigley said.
“It’s rare for two frequent-service routes to meet at a shared layover,” Quigley told the RTC board. “This new facility helps increase our operational efficiency, plus it’s just really pretty.”
The Howard Hughes Corp., which developed Downtown Summerlin, donated the land and will help maintain the new transit stop, which is equipped with canopy shades, benches, bicycle racks and landscaping, Quigley said.
