2 armed men rob Walgreens in east Las Vegas

Las Vegas police detained several people in connection with an armed robbery that occurred early Thursday at an east valley Walgreens.

Metropolitan Police Lt. Daniel Alvarado said two men with their faces covered entered the Walgreens, 4470 E. Bonanza Road, about 4:30 a.m., armed with handguns.

The men forced employees to help them access a safe. Officers arriving at the scene saw the men flee from the store, Alvarado said.

Metro spokeswoman Laura Meltzer said police detained several people in connection with the robbery.
