Las Vegas shooting victim: Andrea Castilla, Huntington Beach, California

Updated October 3, 2017 - 9:51 pm

Andrea Castilla wanted to make the afflicted feel alluring.

For the Huntington Beach, California, resident, makeup was more than just a part of her job at Sephora. She loved watching makeup tutorial videos online, posting photos of herself on Instagram and recommending beauty products to family, younger sister Athena Castilla told the Review-Journal Tuesday.

Not long before Castilla was shot and killed on Sunday in the attack on the Route 91 Harvest country music festival, the 28-year-old told her brother that she wanted to serve cancer patients with her talents. The same disease had taken her mother’s life while she was a teen.

“That’s what made her really happy. Making people feel beautiful,” Athena Castilla said. “She just had such a great outlook on life.”

Andrea was visiting Athena, who lives in Las Vegas, for her birthday on Friday. Andrea’s death has been made even more painful by the fact that her boyfriend was preparing to propose to her, Athena said.

“I told him ‘I hope you knew she would say yes in a heartbeat,’” Athena Castilla said.
