Coroner identifies 2 shot, killed in North Las Vegas

The two people killed in a North Las Vegas shooting Friday morning have been identified.

They were 43-year-old Michelle Dupree of North Las Vegas and 31-year-old Charles Brooks Jr. The Clark County coroner’s office determined the two died of multiple gunshot wounds, and their deaths have been ruled homicides.

Neighbors told police they heard arguing just before Dupree and Brooks were shot about 5 a.m. Friday at the Colonial Grand at Desert Vista apartments, 3305 E. Rome Blvd.

North Las Vegas police on Friday arrested Dupree’s former companion, a 50-year-old man named Caleb Perez Maxey. Police said Maxey had been previously arrested for stalking.

The suspect is being held at the Las Vegas Detention Center on two counts of murder with a deadly weapon and one count of aggravated stalking.
