1 person critically hurt after 2-car crash in western Las Vegas

A 50-year-old man was hospitalized with critical injuries after a crash Thursday morning in the west Las Vegas Valley.

He was driving a 2014 Cadillac west on West Charleston Boulevard and tried to turn left onto southbound Apple Drive, between Hualapai Way and Rampart Boulevard, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. As he tried to turn, his car was hit by an eastbound 2018 BMW at about 10:50 a.m.

The Cadillac driver was taken to University Medical Center. He was not wearing a seat belt, police said.

The 19-year-old man driving the BMW was taken to Summerlin Hospital Medical Center with minor injuries.

Neither driver appeared impaired, police said.

Road were closed for several hours while police investigated, but they have since re-opened.
