Gurwitz, Boswell lead Texas to baseball win over UNLV

Zane Gurwitz and Bret Boswell each went 3-for-5 with two runs for No. 23 Texas in its 11-2 romp over UNLV in a nonconference baseball game Saturday in Austin, Texas.
Patrick Mathis homered, and Tres Barrera, Michael Cantu and Tyler Rand had two RBIs apiece for the Longhorns (1-1), who held a 13-8 edge in hits and benefited from five Rebels errors.
Texas starter Ty Culbreth (1-0) held UNLV (1-1) to one run on four hits and one walk and struck out four in five innings.
Andrew Yazdanbakhsh homered for the second straight game for the Rebels and finished 2-for-4, as did Austin Anderson.
UNLV starter Kenny Oakley (0-1) gave up six runs — three earned — on seven hits and two walks and struck out three in three innings.
