Updated August 10, 2018 - 11:08 pm

North Las Vegas police are investigating a suspicious death after a body was found Friday afternoon in a desert area in the far northeast valley.

The body belonged to a woman in her 20s, and she was found on or near the 8900 block of Las Vegas Boulevard North, spokesman Eric Leavitt said. The body appeared to be in a desert area off of the road.

“Definitely suspicious,” Leavitt said.

Detectives and the Clark County coroner’s office are conducting investigations, Leavitt said.

The coroner’s office will release her identity and determine her cause and manner of death.
