Man arrested after woman shot, killed near VA Medical Center

North Las Vegas Police arrested a suspect Saturday in connection with a Tuesday homicide.

Randal McCray, 63, was taken into custody Saturday in connection with the incident, North Las Vegas police spokesman Alexander Perez said.

Kayota Washington, 47, of North Las Vegas, was killed in a home on the 6200 block of Wildcat Brook Court after what North Las Vegas police said may have been a domestic dispute.

Washington died from a gunshot wound to the head; her death was ruled a homicide.

Police believe McCray had a relationship with Washington.

Kayota Washington’s cousin Toran Washington remembers growing up with her in Detroit. She was very family-oriented, he said.

“She always wanted the best for her children,” he said.

She is survived by her three daughters.
