Man wanted for homicide in Las Vegas shot, injured by police gunfire in California
A 24-year-old man wanted in connection with a September homicide in Las Vegas was shot and critically injured by police Tuesday in Anaheim, California.
The confrontation with police occurred at 9:56 a.m.
When officers confronted Oscar Ramirez-Infante at a plant nursery he was armed with a gardening spade, Los Angeles Police Department Lt. Chris Ramirez said. Officers deployed a stun gun, which failed to subdue the suspect. Ramirez-Infante then lunged at an officer, who shot him.
An FBI task force was involved in the confrontation. Police knew Ramirez-Infante was wanted in connection with the Las Vegas homicide, Lt. Ramirez confirmed.
Ramirez-Infante underwent surgery for a gunshot wound to the left shoulder. He is now out of surgery and in stable condition.
Court documents show the man Ramirez-Infante, is wanted on one count of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of murder in connection with the death of Charles Dontae Davis, 37.
Davis was fatally shot just before 8 p.m. Sept. 1 in an alleyway behind 497 North Circle, near Twain Avenue and Paradise Road.
