Man wounded in shooting near Rainbow-Cheyenne area

A man was taken to a hospital after a shooting near North Rainbow Boulevard and West Cheyenne Avenue Thursday morning.

The man, who is in his 30s, was walking on Rainbow near West Atwood Avenue just before 2:30 a.m when he was shot, Officer Danny Cordero with the Metropolitan Police Department said.

A white 2-door vehicle pulled up next to the man and a person got out of the passenger side door, Cordero said. The person started firing at the man and struck him in both legs.

The victim was taken to a hospital. His injuries are not considered to be life-threatening, police said.

The motive of the shooting is unknown but the preliminary investigation indicates that it is not gang-related, Cordero said.

No arrests have been made.
