Driver killed after crashing into wall in east Las Vegas

A man has died after a single-vehicle crash in the east valley Thursday morning.

The man crashed his 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo into a wall near Pecos Road and Stewart Avenue about 6:15 a.m., the Metropolitan Police Department said. Its 20-year-old driver died at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center later on Thursday.

The car had sped too quickly along a curve in the road, Metro said, causing the vehicle to drive off the roadway to left and strike a wall.

The Clark County coroner’s office will identify the decedent once next of kin has been notified.

This is the eighth traffic-related fatality investigated by Metro in 2017.
