The Las Vegas Valley can expect cooler than normal temperatures and a small chance of showers this Memorial Day weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
Friday was dry with a high of 78 degrees, 14 degrees below the average temperature of 92 for this time of year, meteorologist Ashley Wolf said.
A lot of sunshine is expected Saturday, along with a high of 83 degrees. Winds will pick up Saturday, with gusts around 20 to 25 mph, meteorologist Alex Boothe said.
Abnormally strong area of low pressure persisting across the region will make for a cool and unsettled Memorial Day Holiday Weekend. If camping above 7000 feet be prepared for snow accumulations of a few inches. #azwx #cawx #nvwx pic.twitter.com/BCpbpw7wON

Winds will grow stronger Sunday, with gusts around 25 to 30 mph. The valley has a 30 percent chance of rain Sunday afternoon and evening, with a high of 75 degrees, according to the weather service.
By Monday morning, rain chances will decrease. A high of 71 degrees is projected, and winds should stay around 15 mph.
“It won’t be pool weather, that’s for sure,” Boothe said.
Tuesday will be calmer with mostly sunny skies and a high of 82, Boothe said. Wednesday will see a high of 86.
“It looks like by the end of next week, there’s a chance it could be getting close to 90 again,” Wolf said. “At least we’ll be close to normal.”
