‘Miracle on Ice’ team reuniting to honor Suter

The 1980 “Miracle on Ice” team is getting together for the first in 35 years this weekend.

Every living member of the historic team — 19 of them — will converge at Lake Placid, according to USA Today, to celebrate the anniversary of the legendary victory over the powerful Soviet Union.

Team captain Mike Eruzione is 60 and the grandfather of two. Eruzione, who scored the winner against the Soviets, told the Los Angeles Times, “God, we’re old. What’s even funnier is the letters I get today. They almost always start out, ‘Although I wasn’t born in 1980,’”

The “Relive the Miracle” celebration is scheduled for Sunday and will conclude with team members raising Bob Suter’s jersey to the rafters. Suter passed away from a heart attack in September at age 57.
