Earthquake paused operations at High Roller on the Las Vegas Strip

Updated July 6, 2019 - 3:41 pm

Las Vegas casinos saw little impact from Friday night’s 7.1 magnitude earthquake, which hit under Southern California but was felt throughout the Las Vegas Valley.

Caesars Entertainment Corp. temporarily shut down the High Roller at The Linq Hotel, but resumed operations after concluding there was no damage, according to spokesman Richard Broome.

“We got people off and then checked on it,” Broome told the Review-Journal Saturday.

Overall, he said the earthquakes that hit California Thursday and Friday had “no impact” on its properties.

MGM Resorts International spokesman Brian Ahern said none of its properties experienced any structural damage or disruption to operations, though it was a “jarring” experience for some.

“We’ve focused on accommodating guests and providing assistance to anyone who needs to check out early or requires other support,” he said via email.

Ahern said employees conducted property walks to check on guests and other employees, and engineering teams searched the properties for damage.

“There were no significant issues,” he said.

According to a Station Casinos spokesperson, its properties “experienced no interruptions.”
