Small schools: Boulder City takes first-day lead in Class 3A Southern meet

Boulder City holds the lead after Friday’s opening rounds of the Class 3A Southern Region wrestling tournament in Overton.

The Eagles had 10 wrestlers win quarterfinal matches and are atop the field with 83 points, seven more than Virgin Valley.

The Bulldogs also will send 10 wrestlers to the semifinals.

No other school has more than six wrestlers headed to Saturday’s semifinal matches.

Mojave is third with 48 points, followed by Pahrump Valley with 44, and Chaparral and Moapa Valley, both with 43.

Class 2A

At Indian Springs, Tonopah will send seven wrestlers to championship matches Saturday and has the lead after Friday’s action in the Class 2A Southern Region tournament.

The Muckers scored 139 points. Lincoln County is second with 90 points, followed by White Pine (83) and Pahranagat Valley (77½).

White Pine will send five wrestlers to championship matches. Pahranagat Valley, Lincoln County and West Wendover each will send four to the finals.
