Roundup: Late free kick lifts Eldorado over Coronado

Roberto Gonzalez of Eldorado converted a free kick in the final minutes to guide the Sundevils’ boys soccer team to a 2-1 victory over defending Class 4A state champion Coronado on Friday afternoon.

Gonzalez also assisted on teammate Leonel Sedano’s goal.

Emiliano Garcia made five saves for Eldorado.

Alfredo Diaz scored for Coronado.

Sunrise Mountain 4, Desert Pines 1 — At Sunrise Mountain, Angel Arreola netted three goals as the miners defeated the Jaguars.

Miners’ Jonzo Jimenez-Vazquez scored one goal and had two assists. Luis Luna also had one assist.

Erick Santillan scored the lone goal for the Jaguars and his goal was assisted by Nestor Vivero-Mera.

Cimarron-Memorial 3, Western 0 — At Cimarron, Spartans keeper Dylan Crosby recorded five saves en route to a shutout victory over the Warriors.

Fernando Arevalo, Jimi Villasenor and Alan Soriano scored goals for Cimarron.

Arevalo, George Balcazar and Fernando Pito-Gonzalez had assists.

Equipo Academy 3, Moapa Valley 0 — At Mike Miller Park, Steven Gomez had one goal and one assist to lead Equipo Academy over the Pirates.

John Gandarilla and Edward Diaz each had one goal apiece for Equipo.

Jonathan Dominguez tallied two assist for Equipo.

Roberto Santana recorded four saves to complete the shutout for Equipo Academy.

Dillon Jones recorded five saves for Moapa Valley.

Green Valley 7, Snowflake (Ariz.) 2 — Kody Colbert had two goals and one assist to lead the Gators over the Yellow Jackets.

Ryan Marcelino also had two goals and one assist for the Gators.

Dominick Mesa had one goal and two assists for Green Valley.

Elyjah DeLeon and Kai Zurflueh each tallied a goal for Green Valley.

Faith Lutheran 3, Chino Valley (Ariz.) 0 — At Show Low, Derek Heinish and Abigay Gomez both tallied goals to help lead the Crusasders over the Cougars.

Landon Amick recorded the shutout with three saves.

Faith Lutheran 2, Show Low (Ariz.) 0 — At Show Low, Angel Mange had one goal off a penalty kick to help lead the Crusaders over the Cougars.

Mange also assisted on teammate Justin Kolberg’s goal.

Landon Amick recorded the shutout in the Faith Lutheran’s second contest of the day.

Green Valley 2, Blue Ridge (Ariz.) 2 — Ryan Marcelino and Daniel McCracken each had one goal for Green Valley, but the game resulted in a draw.

Chaparral 7, Show Low (Ariz.) 2 — At Show Low, the Cowboys cruised to a victory.
