Roundup: Pahrump boys win home meet

Pahrump Valley’s boys cross country team placed four runners in the top nine Thursday to win a six-team home meet.

The Trojans finished with 38 points. Somerset-Losee was second with 48, followed by Valley (77), Mojave (79), Del Sol (135) and Western (145).

Valley’s Christian Franklin won the 3.1-mile race in 17 minutes, 53 seconds, with teammate Aiden White finishing second in 17:58.

Beatty’s Jose Granados was third in 18:02. Losee’s Liam Baird took fourth in 18:29, just ahead of Pahrump’s Grant Odegard (18:33).

Valley girls edge Pahrump

At Pahrump, Valley had five of the top 11 finishers to narrowly win a three-team girls meet.

The Vikings had 34 points to Pahrump’s 36. Somerset-Losee was third with 59.

Pahrump’s Diamond Sonerholm won the 3.1-mile race in 21:34, and Losee’s Maranda McGuigan was second in 22:08.

Valley’s Frida Reyes took third in 23:52.31 with teammate Isabella Davis right behind in 23:52.59.
