Class 2A: Kevin Inthachack helps The Meadows sweep individual, team titles

The Meadows hadn’t won a boys golf team championship since 2006.

The Mustangs hadn’t had a player claim an individual title in boys golf since 2005.

Kevin Inthachack and his teammates took care of both of those on Thursday.

Inthachack shot a 1-under-par 71 at Boulder City Municpal and finished with a two-round total of even-par 144 to capture the Class 2A individual crown. He also helped the Mustangs pull away to win the team title by 35 strokes over Lake Mead.

Inthachack, who became the first boys golfer from The Meadows to win the individual title since Scott Lewis in 2005, began the day one shot behind North Tahoe’s Murphy Scott for the individual lead, but turned the one-stroke deficit into a four-shot lead after nine holes Thursday. Scott finished second at 147.

The Meadows’ Veronica Joels, who was the runner-up last year, finished third at 151. White Pine’s Collin Young was fourth at 154.

The Mustangs began the second round with a 14-stroke lead in the team standings and never were seriously threatened Thursday.

After shooting 326 in the opening round, The Meadows shot 323 on Thursday to finish at 649. Defending champion Lake Mead was second at 684, followed by North Tahoe at 698.
