Coronado’s Brett Sodetz takes second in Champions Invitational

Coronado’s Brett Sodetz fired a 4-over-par 76 in the final round of the Champions Invitational on Saturday to finish second in the 54-hole tournament at the Golf Club at Terra Lago in Indio, California.

Sodetz, who began the day two strokes off the lead, finished with a three-round total of 223, one stroke behind Chris Wardrup of Palm Desert (Calif.). Wardrup had a 71 in his final round to capture first place in a 248-golfer field.

Robert Keilch of Mater Dei (Calif.) was the leader after 36 holes, but was disqualified Saturday.

Bishop Gorman’s Mitchell Abbott finished tied for fourth overall after firing a 74 on Saturday. Abbott finished at 226.

Arbor View’s Hazen Newman carded a 75 and finished ninth overall at 229.

Coronado finished third of 44 teams in the tournament. The Cougars had a three-round total of 942. Palm Desert won the event with a score of 912. Servite (Calif.) was second at 928.

Arbor View finished tied for eighth at 968, and Bishop Gorman was 14th at 990.
