Roundup: Gavin Amelburu’s walkoff homer lifts Gators over Cougars

Gavin Amelburu hit a solo homer to right field with one out in the bottom of the seventh to give Green Valley’s baseball team a 4-3 win over visiting Coronado on Monday.

Coronado scored three runs in the top of the seventh to take a 3-1 lead, but the Gators rallied for three runs in the bottom of the inning to claim the victory.

Garrett Nelson tripled home a run and scored on an error to bring up Amelburu.

Amelburu was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs, and Nelson went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Max Leuga and Gavin Malcolm each added two hits for the Gators.

Kyle Hall had a two-run single to give the Cougars a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the seventh. He came home on a sacrifice fly by Taylor Darden.

Shadow Ridge 2, Faith Lutheran 1 — At Faith Lutheran, Brennen Lyman threw a two-hitter and scored the go-ahead run on an error in the top of the seventh as the Mustangs edged the Crusaders.

Lyman singled home Austin Cullor earlier in the inning to tie the game. He went the distance, striking out eight and walking two to get the win.

Faith Lutheran starter Josh Brown allowed three hits in six shutout innings. He struck out 12 with two walks.

Cimarron-Memorial 9, Arbor View 4 — At Cimarron, Zach Culver hit a grand slam to help the Spartans defeat the Aggies.

Derek Decolati was 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI, and Andrew Johnson was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run for Cimarron.

Jack Kannon allowed one earned run on seven hits in six innings to get the win.

Austin Pfeifer went 2-for-3 with a run, and Tyler Whitaker was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Arbor View. Jesse Pierce added a solo homer for the Aggies.

Liberty 7, Silverado 4 — At Liberty, Jordan Bohnet tossed five innings and allowed one run as the Patriots defeated the Skyhawks.

Liberty’s James Katona went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Zanden Shim went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, and Kaeden Camat-Toki was 2-for-3 with two runs for Liberty.

Silverado’s Caleb Hubbard went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Palo Verde 7, Legacy 0 — At Legacy, Bryce Robison tossed a shutout as the Panthers’ clinched the No. 2 seed in the Northwest league with their victory over the Longhorns.

Robison allowed only three hits and struck out seven batters to earn the victory.

Palo Verde’s Nate Bartlett went 3-for-4 with a double. Jaret Godman hit a two-run double, E.J. Arnold went 2-for-3 with a triple, Jacob Godman went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Austin Raleigh was 1-for-2 with an RBI for the Panthers.

Bonanza 7, Clark 3 — At Bonanza, Nick DeSoto went 2-for-3 with two RBIs as the Bengals got the victory over the Chargers.

Bonanza’s Sebastian Rosales-Hernandez pitched five innings and allowed three runs to earn the victory. Kanon Henderson hit a three-run double, and Robert Shook and Brandon Rivera each reached base safely three times for Bonanza.

Julio Hernandez and Elijah Fuchs each went 2-for-3 for Clark.

Foothill 7, Eldorado 1 — At Eldorado, Tyler Kara fired a two-hitter as the Falcons beat the Sundevils.

Kara struck out 10 and walked one.

Tommy Dirk went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a run for Foothill, and teammate Ethan Yatsun was 2-for-2 with a double and two runs.

Jacob Heiselbetz added two hits and an RBI for the Falcons.

Virgin Valley 6, Moapa Valley 4 — At Mesquite, Dillan Fuqua allowed one earned run on six hits in six innings to lead the Bulldogs over the Pirates.

Fuqua struck out nine and walked two.

Cade Anderson was 1-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI for Virgin Valley.

Tech 12, Del Sol 1 — At Del Sol, Jose Leon went 3-for-4 and pitched a one-hitter to lead the Roadrunners to the five-inning win over the Dragons.

Leon had a double, a triple, two runs and two RBIs. He struck out eight and walked two.

Jason Collingbourne tripled twice and scored two runs, and teammate Sean Jones was 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI for Tech.

Boulder City 14, Chaparral 2 — At Boulder City, Chafton Temple was 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs to lead the Eagles to the five-inning win over the Cowboys.

D.J. Reese drove in four runs, and Rhett Armstrong went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, a run and an RBI for Boulder City.

Desert Oasis 17, Durango 2 — At Durango, Parker Schmidt was 2-for-2 with a a home run and four RBIs as the Diamondbacks rolled past the Trailblazers in four innings.

Zac Czerniawski and Jason Sharman each went 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs for Desert Oasis.

Izzy Gutierrez was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Cole Schaefer was 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI for the Diamondbacks.

Durango’s Irvin Weems was 1-for-1 with a double and two RBIs.

Bishop Gorman 11, Sierra Vista 1 — At Gorman, Ryan Sepede was 2-for-2 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs as the Gaels routed the Mountain Lions in six innings.

Tyler Curtis went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI, and Christian Lamar was 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI for Gorman. Carson Wells was 2-for-2 with a double and two runs for the Gaels.

Parker Aquino allowed an unearned run on three hits in four innings to get the win.

Las Vegas 13, Valley 3 — At Las Vegas High, Trevor Johnson had two hits, including a double, to lead the Wildcats to the victory over the Vikings.

Justin Johnson and Kevin Verduzco each added two hits for Las Vegas, and Martin Simmons doubled for the Wildcats.

The Meadows 18, Mountain View 3 — At The Meadows, Sam Kaplan homered and drove in three runs as the Mustangs beat the Saints in four innings.

Trey Covell was 2-for-2 with a double, four runs and an RBI, and Ronnie Ortiez, Brett Lieuallen, Justin Tanka and Davidson Rufty each drove in two runs for The Meadows.
