Roundup: Sierra Vista out-slugs Durango in homer-happy game

Sierra Vista’s softball team smashed nine home runs, and the Mountain Lions overcame Durango for a 25-15 victory on Wednesday afternoon.

Ryan Watkins hit a grand slam, and Daelynn Hilton went 4-for-5 with two home runs and six RBIs for Sierra Vista.

Mia Buranamontri supplied two solo shots, and Andrea Barajas and Hola Rosalia Nakayama each doubled, homered and drove in four runs for the Mountain Lions.

Alexis Geraldo went 4-for-4 with three homers and four RBIs and Destiny Cisneros was 4-for-5 with two doubles, a home run and five RBIs for Durango.

Kaitlin Fazendin doubled twice, homered, and drove in three runs, and Trinity Valentine supplied a homer and three RBIs for the Trailblazers.

Bishop Gorman 19, Spring Valley 8 — At Bishop Gorman, Darian Pancirov was 4-for-4 with two home runs, a double, a walk, five runs and eight RBIs, and earned the win in the circle as the Gaels routed the Grizzlies in five innings.

Pancirov ended the game with a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth for Gorman, which got four hits from Hayley Coreas. Mia Weckel also supplied four hits, and teammates Reyna Martin and Katelyn Hunter each had three hits for the Gaels.

Madison Hood had a two-run double to lead Spring Valley.

Moapa Valley 8, Pahrump Valley 7 — At Overton, Aria Messer singled home Abbie Evans from third base with two outs in the bottom of the eighth, giving the Pirates the win over the Trojans.

Messer finished with two hits and two RBIs for the Pirates. Kessa Evans had a triple and drove in three runs, and Sierra Staheli supplied two hits and two RBIs for Moapa Valley.

Ashleigh Murphy and Taylor Egan each had two hits for Pahrump Valley.

Desert Pines 20, Clark 6 — At Desert Pines, Milah Rendon had three hits and four RBIs to lead the Jaguars over the Chargers in five innings.

Mireyah Ortiz had three RBIs for the Jaguars, who scored multiple runs in every inning.

Sharon Vernaz had two hits and four RBIs for the Chargers.

Liberty 17, Foothill 7 — At Liberty, Shelby Carvalho went 4-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and four RBIs, and Heather Scott was 3-for-4 with a double, triple and two RBIs as the Patriots pounded out a five-inning win over the Falcons.

Lauren Clark hit an inside-the-park home run, and Cali Christopher went 4-for-4 with three RBIs for Liberty, which led 7-0 after one inning.

Morgan Matsumoto hit two doubles for Foothill.

Rancho 15, Las Vegas 10 — At Las Vegas High, MacKenzie Perry had two doubles and drove in three runs, and Lorena De La Torre singled and drove in two runs to help the Rams rally past the Wildcats.

Kaitlyn Suarez added two hits and an RBI for Rancho, which trailed 8-2 after two innings but clawed back and exploded for nine runs in the sixth inning.

Melina Fabian and Skylar Gorrell each doubled and drove in three runs for Las Vegas, and teammate Midajah Chavira went 3-for-5 with a double.

Silverado 20, Valley 1 — At Valley, Ava Montoya and Meleah Rivera each had a double and four RBIs as the Skyhawks rolled over the Vikings in four innings.

Rivera, Aleza Guarriglia, Megan Johnson and Megan Thomas each scored three times for the Skyhawks, who drew 15 walks in the game.

Thomas, Johnson and Anna Tucker each knocked in two for Silverado.

Coronado 17, Canyon Springs 1 — At Canyon Springs, Tatum Spangler had four hits and five RBIs to lead the Cougars over the Pioneers in three innings.

Alyana Lopez added two hits and two RBIs, and Alean Baldonado drove in two runs for Coronado.

Sydney Smith went the distance, allowing one hit and striking out four, to get the win.

Desert Oasis 16, Bonanza 1 — At Bonanza, Makayla Rickard was 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs as the Diamondbacks blasted the Bengals in three innings.

Jaid Riana also had three hits for Desert Oasis, which got two hits apiece from Jada Moreno and Izriah Hodson. Jazmyne Compehos earned the win in the circle for the Diamondbacks.

Evalynn Sandoval supplied two hits to lead Bonanza.

Green Valley 13, Eldorado 2 — At Green Valley, Tyre Hilton went 2-for-3 with two triples and three RBIs as the Gators routed the Sundevils in five innings.

Olivia McClain went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI for the Gators, and winning pitcher Katrina Ramos went 2-for-2 with a double.

Palo Verde 17, Cimarron-Memorial 2 — At Cimarron, Grace Chavez had two home runs and four RBIs to power the Panthers over the Spartans in four innings.

Lauryn Barker homered for the Panthers, and Makall Whetten and Alyssa Lybbert each doubled.
