Roundup: Allen Tyes helps Sierra Vista win meet

Allen Tyes won one individual event, ran a leg on a winning relay team and finished second in another event Wednesday to help host Sierra Vista’s boys track team win a three-team meet against Durango and Calvary Chapel.

Tyes won the 100-meter dash in 11.66 seconds and was second in the 200. He also ran a leg on the Mountain Lions’ winning 400 relay team (44.92).

Durango’s Ka’Ron Shomo won the 110 hurdles in 17.28 and the long jump with an effort of 19 feet, 9 inches.

Sierra Vista finished with 74 points. Durango was second with 51, and Calvary Chapel took third with 19.

Gorman wins three-team meet

At Bishop Gorman, Donovan Smith, Cedric Tillman and Kyu Kelly each won one individual event and finished second in another to lead the Gaels to an easy win over Bonanza and The Meadows in a tri-meet.

Smith won the 110 hurdles in 16.67 and was second in the 300 hurdles. Tillman cleared 5-6 to tie for first in the high jump and was second in the long jump. Kelly won the long jump with a mark of 21-9 and was second in the 100.

Bonanza’s Joey Fox won the 100 (10.93) and 200 (22.61).

The Meadows’ Shahzaib Akbar won the shot put with an effort of 44-10 and placed second in the discus.

Gorman had 125 points. Bonanza was second with 37, followed by The Meadows with 20.

Lee helps Pirates win four-team meet

At Overton, Joshua Lee won the pole vault (13-0) and high jump (5-4) and finished second in the long jump to help Moapa Valley defeat Desert Pines, Shadow Ridge and Sunrise Mountain in a four-team meet.

Jerrick Stastny won the 3,200 (11:32.6) and was second in the 1,600 for Moapa Valley.

Shadow Ridge’s Zane Shelton swept the throws, winning the shot put with an effort of 37-3 and the discus with a toss of 116-6½.

Moapa Valley finished with 92 points. Shadow Ridge was second with 79, followed by Desert Pines with 70 and Sunrise Mountain with 16.

Mojave wins four-team home meet

At Mojave, James Fincher won the 1,600 (4:56.8) and 3,200 (10:54.8) to lead the Rattlers to victory in a four-team home meet.

Quincy Smith won the triple jump (44-4), was second in the long jump and third in the triple jump for Mojave.

Mojave finished with 114 points, followed by Canyon Springs (66½), Del Sol (46½) and Somerset-Losee (19).

Joseph McMillan won the pole vault (7-6) and was third in the 800 for Rattlers, and teammate Ivan Parra won the shot put (41-3) and was third in the discus.

Canyon Springs’ Isaiah Hayden placed first in the 100 (11.2) and 200 (23.6).
