Boys Basketball

Martell Williams, Silverado

The sophomore scored 35 points to lift the Skyhawks to an 86-83 road win over Coronado. He added 21 points in an 88-75 win over Mount Miguel (California) in the Battle Born Classic at Durango.

Girls Basketball

Desi-Rae Young, Desert Oasis

The sophomore scored 50 points to lead the Diamondbacks to four victories, including three in Southwest League play. Young had 17 points and a momentum-swinging charge in Desert Oasis’ 69-61 win at Gorman on Friday.

Flag Football

Whitley Brow, Foothill

The junior wide receiver showcased her big-play ability in victories over Green Valley and Silverado. She had a 75-yard touchdown catch against the Gators, and caught three passes for 95 yards and a touchdown against the Skyhawks.

Joey Mazzara, Bishop Gorman

The senior won the 170-pound championship at the Battle for the Belt in Temecula Valley, California.

The Coronado girls volleyball team swept Bishop Gorman to win the Class 5A Southern Region final Saturday at Palo Verde. Both teams advance to the state tournament.
