Roundup: Silverado rolls in San Diego tournament

Silverado’s girls volleyball team lost only one set in three matches and swept pool play Friday at the SoCal Invitational in San Diego.

Silverado will play at 10:15 a.m. Saturday against Whittier Christian to determine its bracket for elimination play.

The Skyhawks started the day with a 25-13, 25-23 victory over St. Paul (California), then swept Chugiak (Alaska), 25-8, 25-16. They lost their first set of the day to open the match against Granite Hills (California), but rebounded to win, 22-25, 25-16, 15-4.

In the same tournament, Coronado went 2-1, defeating La Jolla Country Day (California), 25-21, 25-21, and Westview (California), 25-23, 25-15. The Cougars lost to Temecula Valley (California), 20-25, 17-25.

Coronado placed second in its pool and will play at 10:15 a.m. Saturday against Laguna Beach (California).

The Meadows 2-2, Calvary Chapel 0-1 — At Calvary Chapel, the Mustangs swept a doubleheader from the Lions, 25-13, 25-21 and 21-25, 25-13, 15-13.

Mira Gollard had 13 assists and four aces, Dani Mason had 10 digs and seven kills and Emily Ebel had eight digs in the opener for The Meadows.

In the nightcap, Mason had 15 kills and 16 digs, and Gollard had 29 assists and four aces for the Mustangs, who also got contributions from Emily Ebel and Vivian Pallares (12 digs apiece) and Anna Dorn (11 digs, five kills).

Tonopah 3, Indian Springs 0 — At Indian Springs, the Muckers were 25-17, 25-10, 25-22 winners over the Thunderbirds.

Beatty 3, Round Mountain 0 — At Round Mountain, the Hornets defeated the Knights, 25-12, 25-14, 25-11.

Laughlin 2-2, Democracy Prep 0-0 — At Laughlin, the Cougars swept both matches in a doubleheader against the Blue Knights.

Lincoln County 2-2, Needles 0-1 — At Needles, California, the Lynx won both matches in a doubleheader against the Mustangs.
