Literary Las Vegas: Mackenzie Mack

A 2006 graduate of Cimarron-Memorial High School, Mackenzie Mack had a stellar junior golf career with experience on several national and international tours. She was recognized as one of GolfWeek’s top 100 junior golfers in the country and awarded a full scholarship to Indiana State University, where she was the first black woman to compete as a member of the women’s golf team. After her graduation with a major in marketing and minors in finance and Spanish, she received a master’s in business administration from the Indiana State University Scott College of Business. During her time at Indiana State, Mack also spent one season as the women’s golf team’s assistant coach and co-founded Tee it Up, a nonprofit designed to share golf in underserved communities. Mack is the author of “Women’s Golf College Directory” and “Men’s Golf College Directory,” both intended to be guides to high school golfers considering competing in college. The books provide information on the differences between competition in a variety of divisions and contact information for program administrators at colleges and universities. Excerpt:

The Women’s Golf College Directory was compiled to provide a quick reference for young female golfers researching college options. It is organized to support divisions and guidelines established by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) and the National Junior College Athletic Association. The four organizations function independently.
