Desert Pines senior Je’rell Springer chooses Southern Utah

Desert Pines senior Je’rell Springer committed to Southern Utah on Wednesday, the final day of the spring signing period.
Southern Utah did not officially announce Springer’s signing Wednesday.
Springer, a 6-foot-6-inch guard/forward, is ranked as one of the state’s top basketball recruits in the class of 2017 by every major internet recruiting service despite missing all but one game this past season for the Jaguars.
Springer was forced to sit out while embroiled in an eligibility battle with the Clark County School District and the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association after transferring from Shadow Ridge.

Springer was a third-team all-state pick as a junior at Shadow Ridge after averaging 20.4 points per game.
Springer said in March he was weighing the option of attending prep school but impressed this spring on the travel circuit while playing with 702 Attack.
He visited Brigham Young this month and also had a scholarship offer from Pacific before choosing the Thunderbirds, who are coached by former UNLV assistant and interim head coach Todd Simon.
