SOFTBALL: Haylee Makue-Vasconcello’s RBI single in eighth lifts Tech over Chaparral

Haylee Makue-Vasconcello’s two-out single in the bottom of the eighth inning drove in Katy Orellana from second base with the winning run to lift Tech’s softball team to a 4-3 home win over Chaparral on Wednesday.

Orellana reached on a single and advanced to second base on a passed ball before coming around to score.

Makue-Vasconcello was 2-for-4, and Avery Rayos went 3-for-4 with a double for Tech, which also got two hits from Melissa Fuller. Ashlee Carratelli struck out four in a complete game to earn the win.

Losi Brown, Alexis Montoya and Fiona Togogae each doubled for Chaparral. Montoya also threw out five runners attempting to steal.

Las Vegas 3, Basic 2 — At Basic, Kaitlyn Horstdaniel was 2-for-3 with a triple and a solo home run as the Wildcats edged the Wolves.

Arienne Ackerman went 3-for-4, and Summer Horn was 2-for-2 with a double for Las Vegas.

Skylar Gorrell pitched a four-hitter with six strikeouts to get the win.

Sanoe Helenihi was 2-for-3 with a solo homer for Basic, which scored a run in the bottom of the seventh but couldn’t complete the comeback.

Sierra Vista 15, Spring Valley 0 — At Sierra Vista, Kalei Watkins tossed a four-inning perfect game with four strikeouts and drove in two runs at the plate to lead the Mountain Lions past the Grizzlies.

Ryan Watkins was 2-for-2 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBIs, and Jessica Schneider went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs.

Mia Buranamontri drove in three runs for Sierra Vista, which finished with 13 hits.

Rancho 10, Silverado 0 — At Rancho, MacKenzie Perry struck out six in a four-hitter as the Rams dropped the Skyhawks in five innings.

Perry, Lorena De La Torre, Gianna Carosone and Sam Pochop each hit a triple and drove in run for Rancho.

De La Torre was 3-for-3, and Carosone went 2-for-4 for Rancho, which led 7-0 after three innings.

Liberty 13, Green Valley 4 — At Green Valley, McKenna Hefley was 4-for-5 with two doubles and four RBIs as the Patriots defeated the Gators.

Soraya Seumalo tossed a complete game with five strikeouts to earn the win in the circle for Liberty, which led 7-1 after two innings. Breanna Alvarez went 3-for-5 with five RBIs, and Marisa Olmos added two hits for the Patriots.

Olivia McClain and Brooke Haney each had two hits to lead Green Valley.

Palo Verde 12, Faith Lutheran 0 — At Palo Verde, Ally Snelling finished 3-for-4 with a double, three runs and five RBIs in the Panthers’ five-inning rout of the Crusaders.

Cara Beatty was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI, and Jessica Hopkins had two hits and an RBI for Palo Verde.

Kendall Hopkins pitched a two-hitter with five strikeouts, and Lauryn Barker and Makena Martin each had two hits for the Panthers, who led 5-0 after the first inning.

Arbor View 16, Legacy 1 — At Arbor View, Taylor Beaman was 2-for-2 with a double, a triple and four RBIs as the Aggies routed the Longhorns in three innings.

Taylor Thomas was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs, and Adriana Thomason went 2-for-2 with a double for Arbor View, which scored 12 runs in the second inning.

Kayla Rutledge pitched a three-hitter with seven strikeouts to get the win.

Eldorado 11, Canyon Springs 0 — At Eldorado, Adriana Romero went 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs, and Heather Holman was 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI in the Sundevils’ six-inning win over the Pioneers.

Holman also pitched three hitless innings with eight strikeouts to earn the win, and Veronica Velasquez and Harlee Salazar each had two hits for Eldorado.

Cerrah Vann doubled for Canyon Springs.

Foothill 15, Valley 0 — At Foothill, Katelyn Enzweiler went 3-for-3 with a run and three RBIs, and the Falcons finished with 16 hits in their three-inning victory over the Vikings.

Makenzie Andrews was 2-for-2 with a double, three runs and three RBIs, and Haleigh Olive and Caitlyn Stevenson each hit a double. Leah Becker struck out four and allowed only one hit to earn the win for Foothill.

Heather Robinson had Valley’s hit.

Boulder City 17, Virgin Valley 2 — At Mesquite, Marleena Mills was 3-for-4 with five RBIs, and Lily Osmman hit a grand slam to lead the Eagles by the Bulldogs.

Jerra Hinson was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Bailey Bennett-Jordan tossed a five-hitter to earn the win for Boulder City, which led 7-1 after the first inning.

Taylor Barnum doubled, and Calee Clem was 2-for-2 with a run for Virgin Valley.

Moapa Valley 18, Del Sol 2 — At Del Sol, Kessa Evans went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and four RBIs, and Aria Messer was 4-for-4 with two doubles, four runs and two RBIs to help the Pirates to a four-inning rout of the Dragons.

Kaitlyn Anderson doubled twice, and Emilie Barraza, Sierra Staheli and Halle Bennett each hit a double for Moapa Valley, which broke a 2-2 tie with six runs in the top of the second inning.

Yadira Martinez was 2-for-2 with a double, and Noa Bowie went 2-for-2 for Del Sol.

Pahrump Valley 23, Mojave 4 — At Mojave, Evandy Murphy went 4-for-4 with a double, two triples and five RBIs, and the Trojans scored 16 runs in the third inning to rout the Rattlers.

Taylor Egan was 3-for-4 with a solo home run, and Amaya Mendoza went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBIs for Pahrump, which got two hits and three RBIs from Jackie Stobbe.

Emilee Mitton and Ariel Wilson each finished 2-for-2 with an RBI to lead Mojave.

Laughlin 20-21, The Meadows 6-6 — At The Meadows, the Cougars swept the Mustangs.
