BASEBALL: Josh Kelly’s eighth-inning sac fly lifts Mojave over Desert Pines

Junior varsity call-up Josh Kelly drove in Scott Wilson with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Mojave’s baseball team a 4-3 home win over Desert Pines on Wednesday.

Wilson led off the inning with a triple and finished with four of Mojave’s five hits.

Cesar Bailon had two hits and two RBIs, and James Greco went 2-for-3 with a double for Desert Pines.

Liberty 4, Foothill 3 — At Liberty, winning pitcher Jordan Moreno drove in the game-tying run and scored the go-ahead run in the fourth to help the Patriots edge the Falcons.

Moreno also threw three innings of no-hit ball with five strikeouts.

Michael Wong hit a two-run homer in the first inning for Liberty, but Foothill answered with three runs in the third.

Alex Elizondo had a two-run single, Chase Parenteau tripled, and Parker Cole hit a double for Foothill.

Sunrise Mountain 10, Western 8 — At Western, Brian Ruiz earned the win with five strikeouts and was 3-for-5 with two triples as the Miners edged the Warriors.

Daltyn Pytrysson, Earl Garrett, and Donovan Hansen each supplied two hits for Sunrise Mountain, which scored six runs in the second inning to take control.

Michael Davison had a single and a double to pace Western.

Desert Oasis 9, Durango 2 — At Durango, Brett Brocoff doubled twice and drove in three runs, and Cole Schaefer doubled and supplied two RBIs as the Diamondbacks topped the Trailblazers.

Winning pitcher Aaron Roberts hit a double and combined with Josh Sharman on a two-hitter. Batterymate Gage Ventura had two hits for Desert Oasis.

Pahrump Valley 12, Cheyenne 1 — At Cheyenne, Willie Lucas struck out nine to earn the win and was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI as the Trojans overpowered the Desert Shields in five innings.

Garrett Lucas was 3-for-5 with a triple and two RBIs, Anthony Charles went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, and Cyle Havel added a double for Pahrump Valley, which led 8-1 after three innings.

Angel Astorga went 2-for-3 with a triple for Cheyenne.

Bishop Gorman 12, Sierra Vista 2 — At Gorman, Tyler Curtis homered and had four RBIs, and Nick Hernandez hit a home run to help the Gaels take down the Mountain Lions in five innings.

Jorel Hingada tripled and scored twice for the Gaels, and John Gaughan doubled and scored twice.

Gorman’s Dutch Landis earned the win after pitching four scoreless innings and allowing two hits. He struck out nine.

Cooper Kitrel homered for the Mountain Lions.

Bonanza 15, Clark 0 — At Bonanza, Julio Seperich was 3-for-3 with two doubles to power the Bengals over the Chargers in four innings.

Torren Brozovich hit a three-run homer for the Bengals, Danny Ruiz tripled and doubled, and Kanon Henderson had a double.

Julian DeLeon fired a three-hit shutout for the Bengals.
