2017 Coronado Baseball Capsule

CORONADO

Head coach: Rich Santigate, second season

2016 record: 19-12-1 (14-6 Division I Sunrise, fourth)

Returning lettermen (starters): Fifteen (seven)

Top players: 3B Noah Hemphill (Sr.), UTL Landon Roland (Sr.), CF Jake McLean (Jr.), P Boston Mabeus (Jr.), UTL Kyle Hall (Jr.)

Outlook: The Cougars welcome back seven starters and plenty of talent.

Hemphill (.415, 17 RBIs) is a Kansas State signee and probably will be joined in Coronado’s lineup by Roland (.337, 20 RBIs), McLean (.276, 17 RBIs) and Hall (.337, 12 RBIs).

“With seven starters and 15 returning players, the Cougars are ready to burst on the scene,” Santigate said. “With their participation in the Boras and National Classics, two of the premier tournaments on the west coast, they will certainly be tested early as they prepare to contend in an extremely tough conference.”
