TRACK: Jacob Eckersley helps Shadow Ridge boys to win

Jacob Eckersley won the 400-meter dash and was second in the pole vault Tuesday to lead Shadow Ridge’s boys track and field team to victory in a seven-team meet at Moapa Valley in Overton.

Eckersley took the 400 in 53.89 seconds, and cleared 11 feet to finish second in the pole vault.

Amir King won the 100 in 11.47 and ran on the winning 400 relay team for the Mustangs, and teammate Logan Eldridge won the 200 (23.79) and ran on the 400 relay team.

Shadow Ridge finished with 205 points. Sunrise Mountain was second with 178½, an Moapa Valley was third at 82½.

Sunrise Mountain’s Musio Jimenez-Vasquez won the 800 (2:04.87), 1,600 (4:45.1) and 3,200 (10:21.29). He also ran on the winning 3,200 relay team for the Miners.

Beatty’s Yadir Rodriguez won the long jump with a mark of 19-8½ and cleared 5-8 to tie for first in the high jump.

GIRLS

At Overton, Dayvian Diaz won the 100 meters and was second in the 200 to help Shadow Ridge finish first in a seven-team meet.

Diaz crossed the line in 12.95 seconds to take the 100.

Shadow Ridge totaled 180 points to edge second-place Spring Valley (170). Moapa Valley was third with 130 points.

Jordyn Mills (400), Lillie Cahoon (800), Serena Garcia (3,200), Tabitha Lochner (pole vault) and Abigail Zuhlke (discus) also won events for Shadow Ridge.

Spring Valley won three of the four relays and also picked up victories from Cheyenne Charles (100 hurdles), Myra Tadytin (shot put) and Isabella Iacob (long jump).

Eldorado’s MohnAi Roberson won the 200 (26.9), high jump (4-8) and triple jump (31-1½) and was second in the long jump.
