BOYS BASKETBALL: Maka Ellis’ big fourth quarter rallies Sierra Vista past Bonanza

Maka Ellis scored 12 of his game-high 23 points in the fourth quarter to rally Sierra Vista’s boys basketball team to a 51-48 home win over Bonanza on Wednesday.

Ellis also was 6-for-6 from the free-throw line in the quarter for the Mountain Lions, who trailed 35-29 after three quarters.

Chris McCoy had eight points for Sierra Vista.

Brandon Noone led Bonanza with 15 points, and teammate Chase Hafen scored nine.

Tech 43, Del Sol 40 — At Tech, Jurelle Orbino scored 14 points as the Roadrunners edged the Dragons.

Tyler Muwwakkil had nine points, and teammate Gary Johnson grabbed 10 rebounds for Tech.

Jonathan Spearman led Del Sol with 15 points, and Barry Williams supplied 10 points for the Dragons.

Virgin Valley 63, Boulder City 54 — At Mesquite, Hogan Fowles scored 16 points to lead four double-figure scorers as the Bulldogs downed the Eagles.

Jarett Tietjen had 12 points and went 7-for-7 from the free-throw line for Virgin Valley, which drained eight 3-pointers. Andrew Memmott supplied 12 points and seven assists, and teammate Devin Cox added 11 points for the Bulldogs.

Boulder City’s Karson Bailey led all scorers with 23 points, and Carson Balistere had 11 points for the Eagles.

Las Vegas 73, Eldorado 60 — At Eldorado, Donovan Joyner scored 30 points to lead the Wildcats by the Sundevils.

Deondre Northey added 29 points for Las Vegas, which led 50-46 after three quarters.

Jordan Carter led Eldorado with 20 points. Reggie Ingram had 14 points, and Kemo Bell scored 10 for the Sundevils.

Clark 69, Desert Oasis 52 — At Clark, Ian Alexander had 22 points as the Chargers defeated the Diamondbacks.

Antwon Jackson added 12 points and 10 rebounds for Clark, which led 36-22 at the half.

Deshawn Wilson had 10 points, and Ezekiel Crawford scored nine for the Chargers.

Jacob Heese had 23 points to lead Desert Oasis.

Bishop Gorman 99, Spring Valley 57 — At Spring Valley, five Gaels scored in double figures as they routed the Grizzlies.

Saxton Howard led Gorman with 14 points. Noah Taitz had 13 points, Chuck O’Bannon scored 12, Jarrett Jordan scored 11 and Christian Popoola added 10 points for the Gaels.

Keelan Wickersham led Spring Valley with 24 points, and teammate Ryan Frazier scored 17.

Rancho 66, Valley 48 — At Valley, Justin Holiday led three double-figure scorers with 17 points as the Rams defeated the Vikings.

Dayshawn Robinson added 16 points, and Chrys Jackson scored 13 for Rancho.

Bryce Jones led Valley with 13 points.

Chaparral 62, Moapa Valley 25 — At Overton, Jonathan Tendale scored 15 points to help guide the Cowboys to victory over the Pirates.

Samuel Porras had 11 points, and teammate Marcus Hilliard added 10 points for Chaparral, which knocked down 14 of 17 free throws.

Moapa Valley’s Dalyn Leavitt scored eight points to lead the Pirates.

Spring Mountain 66, Beaver Dam 20 — At Indian Springs, Anthony Garrett scored 15 points to lead the Golden Eagles to an easy win over the Diamondbacks.

Jaylon McKenzie had 13 points, and Deon Lee scored 12 for Spring Mountain, which got 10 points from Eric Brooks.

Manny Villarreal led Beaver Dam with eight points.
