BASKETBALL: Sierra Vista girls rally for win

Alexis Hansen finished with 13 points, and Sierra Vista’s girls basketball team rallied to defeat Bolsa Grande (California) 37-33 on Monday at the Savanna Lady Rebel Holiday Classic in Anaheim, California.

Hansen went 5-for-7 at the free-throw line in the fourth quarter, and Danielle Morrow had six of her eight points in the fourth for Sierra Vista.

The Mountain Lions outscored Bolsa Grande 13-5 in the fourth quarter to overturn a 28-24 deficit.

BOYS

Etiwanda (Calif.) 66, Centennial 62 — At La Verne, California, the Bulldogs were unable to hold an eight-point halftime lead and fell to the Eagles in the opening round of The Classic at Damien.

Centennial led 35-27 at halftime but was outscored 20-7 in the third quarter.

Matthew Essien made a late 3-pointer to give Etiwanda a 64-60 lead before Myles Oliver went 1-for-2 at the free-throw line with 12.7 seconds left to push the Eagles’ lead to 65-62.

Troy Brown’s 3-pointer with two seconds remaining that would have tied the game didn’t fall for Centennial, which was forced to foul after the Eagles grabbed the defensive rebound.

Krystian Wilson scored 19 points to lead the Eagles.

Darian Scott and Alijah Henderson each had 14 points to lead Centennial. Isaiah Banks added 13 points, and Brown scored 12 for the Bulldogs.

Brea Olinda (Calif.) 59, Del Sol 48 — At Costa Mesa, California, Jonathan Spearman had a game-high 18 points in the Dragons’ loss to the Wildcats in the opening round of the Estancia Coast Classic.

Mekhi Duncan added nine points for Del Sol, which was unable to rebound from a 40-22 halftime deficit.

Desert Pines 73, Bellarmine-Jefferson (Calif.) 43 — At Rancho Mirage, California, the Jaguars topped the Guards in a showcase game at the Rancho Mirage Holiday Invitational.

Chino Hills (Calif.) 131, Foothill 100 — At Rancho Mirage, California, LiAngelo Ball poured in 65 points to lead the Huskies over the Falcons in a showcase game at the Rancho Mirage Holiday Invitational.

Redondo Union (Calif.) 61, Canyon Springs 35 — At Rancho Mirage, California, the Pioneers lost to the Seahawks in a showcase game at the Rancho Mirage Holiday Invitational.
