2016-17 Desert Oasis Flag Football Capsule Preview

DESERT OASIS

Head coach: Michael Ovens, second season

2015-16 record: 13-7 (7-1 Northwest, first)

Returning letter winners (starters): Seven (five)

Top players: RB Izriah Hodson (Jr.), WR Lilyana Ghanem (So.), DL Alex Mora (Sr.), S Dominique Korschinowski (Sr.), DL Alyssa Chautla (Sr.), WR/QB Aniyah Reed (Jr.)

Outlook: Graduation wasn’t kind to the Diamondbacks, though they still return seven letter winners.

“We lost a lot of seniors after winning last year’s Northwest League,” Ovens said. “We will still have some good senior leadership for this season, but will rely on a good young group coming up from a 13-3 junior varsity season.

“We hope to compete and play well in a new league this year.”
