GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: Shadow Ridge girls take four-team meet

Shadow Ridge’s girls cross country team had four of the top six finishers on Tuesday to win a four-team meet at Sierra Vista.

Lillie Cahoon finished third to lead the Mustangs with a time of 17 minutes, 48 seconds for 2.6 miles. Shadow Ridge had 26 points to beat Sierra Vista (47), Desert Oasis (62) and Cimarron-Memorial (119).

Sierra Vista’s Sarriah Brown won the race in 16:16. Baileigh Sundin was second for the Mountain Lions in 16:55.

Coronado wins five-team meet

At Sonata Park, Coronado had three of the top five finishers to win a five-team meet.

The Cougars finished with 26 points to top Liberty (37), Green Valley (75) and Rancho (86). Eldorado had an incomplete team.

Liberty’s Skyler Free won the 2.8-mile race in 18:58.4. Coronado’s Claire Rawlins was second in 19:30.7, and Liberty’s Sydney Groom finished third in 20:10.2.

Arbor View cruises to victory

At Spring Valley, the Aggies had four of the top five finishers to win a five-team meet.

Clark’s Sandybell Avila won the 3.1-mile race in 21:14.49, but was followed by Arbor View’s Adrianna Carlsen (21:40.61), Renata Rodriguez (21:57.08), Rachel Jackson (22:03.08) and Caitlyn Hoggan (22:41.27).

The Aggies finished with 20 points, well ahead of Clark (62), Bishop Gorman (77), Bonanza (175) and Spring Valley (197).

Pahrump Valley edges Desert Pines

At Cheyenne, the Trojans had five of the top 10 finishers to win a five-team meet by one point.

Diamond Sonerholm was Pahrump’s top finisher, placing second in 22:52. The Trojans finished with 35 points, ahead of Desert Pines (36), Cheyenne (58) and Sunrise Mountain (93).

Desert Pines’ Nayeli Perea-Barco won the 3.1-mile race in 22:47, and teammates Yanin Perez (22:58) and Ariana Lozano (23:08) rounded out the top four.

Cheyenne’s Araceli Gascon was fifth in 23:16.
